The First International Symposium on Plant-Microbe Interactions was held at Hangzhou on October 21st. Dr. Chen Jianping, President of ZAAS gave a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony, Mr. Lu Wenge, Director of Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation of China, Mr. GuoXiaojun, Director of Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Foreign Experts, and Dr. Lesley Torrance, Professor at the James Hutton Institute were presented as platform guests. Over 100 representatives from universities and research institutions from home and abroad are invited to attend this symposium. Thirteen internationally recognized plant pathologists delivered their presentations on a varied range of topics as plant virology, fungal diseases and Plant-Microbe Interactions and three young scientists from ZAAS also reported their research to the symposium.
This symposium was organized by State Key Laboratory Breeding Base for Zhejiang Sustainable Pest and Disease Control, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, which incorporated disciplines of the control of plant disease, integrated pest management, germplasm innovation and genetic improvement to resistance on disease and pest of crop, pesticide reduction to control pest and disease, and monitoring technology for agro-products safety inside ZAAS. The next symposium will be held in 2013.
